The White Stripes have joined the list of musicians suing Donald Trump. During the campaign of the Republican candidate, band members Jack White and Meg White filed a lawsuit against Donald. What does their hit single «Seven Nation Army» have to do with the situation?

Jack shared the news of his lawsuit with Meg via Instagram, posting a photo of one of the legal documents. He simply captioned the post: «This machine sues fascists».

Jack and Meg filed a lawsuit against Donald in early September because his campaign used their track «Seven Nation Army» in a video on social media a month prior. According to The Washington Post, Donald and the campaign’s deputy director of public relations, Margo Martin, were accused of posting an online video in which a former «Apprentice» host boards a plane with «Seven Nation Army» playing in the background.

According to court documents obtained by the publication, Jack and Meg claimed that Donald was trying to use their song for financial gain «on their backs», - which in turn is a «clear appropriation» of their work.

In a previous, since-deleted post, Jack threatened Donald and his campaign with a lawsuit in August. In his caption, the musician warned them not to «even think about using [his] music», - calling the Republican candidate and his team «fascists».

«And while I’m here, double f**k you DonOLD for insulting veterans at Arlington National Cemetery, you bastards», - Jack apparently wrote in the deleted post. «You should immediately lose the votes of every military family because of this, if anything makes sense at all».

While not all musicians have sued Donald, many have publicly spoken out about the alleged unauthorized use of their music. Last summer, Celine Dion’s team accused Donald of using her hit «My Heart Will Go On» in a video on social media.

«This use is in no way authorized, and Celine Dion does not endorse this or any similar use», - Celine’s team wrote on social media. «And really, THIS song?»

Shortly after that, Beyoncé sent a cease-and-desist letter regarding the use of her single «Freedom» to Donald’s team in a separate video on social media.
