Tichina Marshall sentenced to 12 years for stabbing colleague
An Illinois resident, Tichina Marshall, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for stabbing her former colleague at Wendy’s in the head, resulting in severe bleeding in the restaurant. Prosecutors reported that the victim survived but sustained a 3-centimeter head wound and a skull fracture.

Marshall, 29, pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree murder on September 24, and the following day, Judge Karen E. Wall handed down the sentence. Following her guilty plea, Marshall will also serve three years of mandatory supervision after her release. Prosecutors noted that she must serve 85% of her sentence.

According to Vermilion County Prosecutor Jacqueline Lacy, the victim cooperated during the court proceedings. She added that «no punishment can undo the consequences of this defendant’s actions», - but the sentence reflects the violent nature of the attack and the serious injuries sustained by the victim.

A month before the attack, Marshall had threatened to kill her colleague while they were working together at a now-closed restaurant in Danville. On May 26, 2025, Danville police were called to the restaurant, where they found the victim lying on the floor, bleeding heavily and nearly unconscious. Surveillance footage shows Marshall entering the office with a knife and attacking her colleague, who was speaking with the manager.

Before the guilty plea, the case was set to go to trial on October 13. In addition to attempted murder, Marshall was also charged with aggravated battery with a weapon, but that charge was dropped as part of the plea agreement.
