In addition to Timmy, who plays Bob in the film, the star-studded cast includes Elle Fanning playing Bob’s former girlfriend Sylvia Russo, and Monica Barbaro playing folk singer Joan Baez. Award-winning actor Edward Norton plays musician Pete Seeger, and Boyd Holbrook plays Johnny Cash.
In the trailer, Timmy can be heard singing one of Bob’s hits «A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall».
According to director James Mangold of «Full Stranger», the star of «Call Me By Your Name» really sings in this film. During a conversation with Rolling Stone in July 2024, the director of «Walk the Line» confirmed that Timmy «was a partner in this» endeavor, referring to providing vocals for the film.
«You want everyone to be putting it all on the line every minute», - explained James to the publication. «But it’s not like if one of our actors misses, I don’t have an alternative or a way to replace that moment.
