Tito’s sons, Taj, Terrell, and TJ, confirmed the news of their father’s death in a statement. Tito shared his children with his ex-wife Delores Martes «Di Di» Jackson.
«With heavy hearts, we announce that our beloved father, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Tito Jackson, is no longer with us», - wrote the members of the group 3T in a statement on Instagram. «We are shocked, saddened, and broken. Our father was an incredible man who cared for everyone and their well-being. Some of you may know him as Tito Jackson from the legendary group Jackson 5, some may know him as 'Coach Tito,' and some know him as 'Papa T.' Nevertheless, he will be greatly missed. For us, it will always be 'Tito Time.' Please remember to do what our father always preached, which is 'Love one another.' We love you, Dad».
Tito and his sons went through a difficult time when Delores passed away in 1994. Although her death was initially ruled accidental, it was later recognized as a homicide.

Delores, known as «Di Di» during her marriage to Tito, met Tito at Fairfax High School in Los Angeles, and they married after graduation. Later, they welcomed their three sons, Taj, Terrell, and TJ.
During a previous interview on ABC’s 20/20 program, Tito described his ex-wife as outgoing when they first met. In one specific memory, the artist of «I'll Be There» recalled how Di Di ran up to congratulate him on his birthday and «kissed [him] on the cheek».
Although she was confident in their relationship, Di Di was also a devoted mother. As her ex-husband was busy with his music career, she spent most of her time at home with the children.
«They (Jackson 5) would go on tour. So often it was just the three of us and Mom at home», - said Terrell during the 20/20 interview. «I think my mom knew that this wasn’t going to be a 'normal' life, so she made it as normal as possible».
After divorcing Tito, Di Di began dating her boyfriend, Don Bohana, in 1993. In August 1994, Delores passed away at the age of 39. Don called 911 to report that Di Di had drowned, but Tito and his sons doubted his words. In 1998, Don was found guilty of second-degree murder for her death.
During a 2017 interview with the Jackson family on 20/20, Tito called his ex-wife's death «the coldest day of [their] lives».
