Tom Cruise is one of the richest, most successful, and respected actors in the world. Starting with his breakthrough role in the movie «Risky Business» and ending with leading the entire «Mission: Impossible» franchise, hailing from Syracuse, New York, he has taken his film career to the highest peaks, performing his own daring stunts and creating some of Hollywood’s highest-grossing hits in history. Naturally, fans were sure that Tom had been awarded at least one Oscar, until he was honored with a special award from the American Film Academy at the Governors Awards ceremony in 2025.
In his acceptance speech, Tom recalled how his cinematic dreams began at a young age, and how movies sparked in him «a thirst for adventure, a thirst for knowledge, a thirst for understanding humanity, creating characters, telling stories, seeing the world».
