Trust Tom Cruise to complete any mission — even the Olympics! The 62-year-old movie star and professional stuntman demonstrated several tricks during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, and also participated in passing the relay to the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
After the exciting performance of the legendary Golden Voyager on Sunday, August 11, Tom appeared at the top of Stade de France. Looking into the camera, the actor from the movie «Mission: Impossible» jumped from the edge and entered the stadium. The trick, as many movie fans saw, resembled his larger stunts in his action franchise.
Surrounding athletes couldn’t resist giving Tom a high five as he ran towards the stage. Several people even tried to take selfies with him. Upon reaching the stage, Tom handed the Olympic flag to Simone Biles and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. He then hopped on his motorcycle to ride away, as countless Olympians made way for him.
Cameras then captured the actor cruising through Paris on the streets in a pre-recorded film. Passing through some traffic, Tom boarded a large plane to skydive over Los Angeles. Keeping true to the action movie theme, Tom landed in an open field, then ran to the Hollywood sign, where he assembled the iconic Olympic rings through the two «O's» in the city’s sign.
Tom was one of many celebrities who visited the Olympic Games this year. Over the past few weeks, he was seen cheering for Team USA from the stands.
Tom’s stunt at the closing ceremony was certainly not his first. Tom is known for performing almost all of his stunts in the «Mission: Impossible» and «Top Gun» movies. During the filming of «Mission: Impossible 7 — Dead Reckoning Part One», - the Hollywood legend pulled off one of the most dangerous feats ever seen: he rode a motorcycle off a cliff and parachuted to safety. The stunt required hundreds of hours of skydiving training, as well as over 10,000 motorcycle jumps
