Thomas Rhett opened up about the many difficulties he faces balancing his career as a country musician with his responsibilities as a husband and father.
The 34-year-old singer, who is married to Lauren Akins and is raising four daughters, values his family above all else. However, managing the demands of his career alongside family life has led to several «difficulties» that the couple has worked hard to overcome.
In an interview with Us Weekly published on Tuesday, August 20, Rhett said, «One of my favorite things to talk about is how hard marriage can be and how difficult it is to be a father and raise children to be good people. There are days that go easier, moments of pure joy, and many tough days. I feel like I have some wisdom that I can share with young people so they don’t make the same mistakes I did».
Being a musician comes with significant responsibilities, including touring, media appearances, and studio work, all of which can take up a lot of time. Additionally, Rhett also plays the role of husband and father to four daughters, which requires additional time and effort. He shared with the publication, «We became famous, probably, at the hardest time in our personal lives. Adopting [Will Gray] and being pregnant at the same time, while I had to be in Uganda for a year, with constant trips back and forth, was so difficult. I was in Uganda and being a husband and father, and then I would come back to America and focus on performances and music».
He added, «I was internally falling apart, and so was Lauren. We both reached points where we felt that something had to change. It was not the most pleasant time in our marriage».
Together for 21 years, the couple has faced many ups and downs, but they have managed to overcome them. Now they understand how to work together and balance both family life and career. They are raising daughters Ada James, Lennon Love, Lillie Caroline, and their adopted child, Willa Gray
