Tragedy in Argentina: Liam Payne found dead in Buenos Aires

Liam Payne was seen greeting fans and spending time with his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, in Argentina in early October 2024. But tragedy struck when he was found dead in Buenos Aires. The death of the late 31-year-old singer broke the hearts of One Direction fans worldwide. And although it seemed that he died from falling off a balcony, fans are questioning what happened to Liam in his final moments. Now, with the publication of the preliminary autopsy report, some questions have been answered.

Liam died on October 16, 2024, falling from the third floor of his room at the CasaSur Palermo hotel. According to a statement obtained by Telemundo, the Emergency Medical Attention System explained: «In the afternoon, police officers from the 14th precinct were dispatched to the hotel following a 911 call about a man in an aggressive state, who may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol».
As heard in the hotel’s call to the police, an employee informed emergency services: «We have a guest, overloaded with drugs and alcohol. And, well, when he is conscious, he breaks the entire room. We need you to send someone urgently, because we do not know if the guest’s life is in danger. He is in a room with a balcony. And… we are a little afraid that he will do something that could endanger his life».
In the autopsy report obtained today, the National Prosecutor’s Office of Argentina noted in a press release that Liam died from «polytrauma and internal and external bleeding». The press release also stated that «a number of substances were removed from the musician’s room, indicating a previous situation of alcohol and drug use».
The Prosecutor’s Office classified Liam’s death as «suspicious/undetermined», - indicating that his death is currently undetermined. However, it was also noted that evidence suggests that «the musician was alone when the fall occurred, and that he was experiencing some crisis as a result of substance use».
Furthermore, the autopsy report showed that the late artist of «Teardrops» died after sustaining «multiple traumatic injuries» and «internal and external bleeding» as a result of the fall. Approximately 25 injuries were officially found, including Liam’s head injuries, which «contributed to the mechanism of death», - the press release stated.
In early October, Liam was seen at a concert of his former classmate and friend from One Direction, Niall Horan. As seen in viral videos on social media, Liam politely greeted fans from the luxury suite where he was sitting.
Liam also enjoyed time with his girlfriend, Kate, as seen in his last Snapchat videos. They seemed to be relaxing, but Kate left Argentina and returned to Florida. In a TikTok video she shared before Liam’s death, Kate explained that their trip to Argentina was not supposed to last more than a few days.
