Tragedy in New York: CEO of Siemens Mobility and his family died
American aviation has been in the spotlight since the beginning of 2025. Among a series of recent incidents, crashes, and collisions, a helicopter crashed into the Hudson River in New York on April 10, 2025. There were six people on board, including five passengers and one pilot, according to information from several sources. Reports indicate that several of the deceased were children. Below you will find out who was on board the helicopter and who perished in this tragic crash.

Initially, several sources reported that the five passengers on the helicopter were tourists from Spain. As the investigation into the crash continued, New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced that the passengers on board the helicopter were the head of the railway infrastructure department of Siemens Mobility, Agustin Escobar, and his family.

All five passengers and the pilot perished in the helicopter crash. A representative from Siemens Mobility stated in a statement to CNN that the company «deeply mourns the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Agustin Escobar and his family. We express our sincere condolences to all their loved ones».

According to Eyewitness News, thirty-two people have died in aviation accidents in New York since 1977. Many of these incidents have occurred along the Hudson River. One of the most memorable cases in history was the «Miracle on the Hudson» in 2009, when a plane collided with a flock of birds after takeoff. Captain Chesley «Sully» Sullenberger piloted the plane and was able to safely land on the Hudson River. As a result, all 155 passengers and crew members returned unharmed. This incident inspired the movie «Sully» starring Tom Hanks.

The cause of the crash is still unclear at the time of publication. Witnesses who saw the incident told several sources that they saw the helicopter fall, and videos show the helicopter wobbling in height before finally plunging into the river.

New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tish informed the public that the helicopter took off at 14:59 from the heliport in downtown Manhattan. After circling the Statue of Liberty, the aircraft flew north along the river and reached the George Washington Bridge by 15:08, according to CNN. The helicopter then flew south along the New Jersey shore before crashing into the Hudson River
