Below Hollywood Life has gathered details about Tristan and Jonathan’s life together, as well as updates on the brutal murder of the Parks and Recreation actor.
Jonathan was an actor known for his roles in various films and TV shows, including King of the Hill, Parks and Recreation, Walker, Texas Ranger, The Wild Thornberrys, Charmed, ER, In Plain Sight, Friday Night Lights, Parks and Recreation, and Tulsa King, as listed on his IMDb profile.
According to his Facebook account and several news sources, including People, Tristan was Jonathan’s husband for only three months. The couple got married on Valentine’s Day 2025. It is unclear how long they had been together before that.
«He gave me more love in our time together than most people ever receive. We were newlyweds», - Tristan wrote in his Facebook post in June 2025. «We chose Valentine’s Day [for the wedding]. We were in the process of looking for a trailer and planning our future».
According to several sources, the suspect in Jonathan’s murder was identified as Sigfredo Alvarez Seha. Newsweek reported that Sigfredo was a former neighbor of the late actor.
The motive for the fatal shooting of Jonathan has not been proven, but Tristan claimed it was a hate crime.
«[Jonathan] was killed by someone who couldn’t stand the sight of two men loving each other», - Tristan wrote on Facebook, describing the alleged moments leading up to Jonathan’s death. «My husband Jonathan Joss and I were involved in a shooting while checking the mail at our former home. This home had been burned down after more than two years of threats from people in the area who repeatedly told us they would burn it down. We reported these threats to law enforcement several times, and nothing was done. During this time, we were regularly harassed by people who clearly did not accept our relationship. Most of the harassment was openly homophobic».
Tristan then claimed, «When we returned to check our mail, we found the skull of one of our dogs and his leash placed prominently. This caused both of us intense emotional distress. We began screaming and crying in response to the pain of what we saw. As we did this, a man approached us. He began shouting violent homophobic slurs at us. Then he raised a gun from his knee and fired. Jonathan and I had no weapons. We were not threatening anyone. We were grieving. We were standing together. When the man fired, Jonathan pushed me aside. He saved my life».
Meanwhile, the San Antonio police stated in a statement: «Despite online claims that this was a hate crime, the current investigation has not found evidence that Mr. Joss’s murder was related to his sexual orientation»
