The tragic death of Charlie Kirk at a presentation at the University of Utah Valley

Charlie Kirk died from a gunshot wound at the University of Utah Valley on September 10, 2025. He was 31 years old. The late right-wing activist and supporter of Donald Trump was in the middle of his presentation «American Comeback» at the university when shots rang out. Initially, it was reported that the shooter was in custody, but later CNN reported that no one was in custody. Kirk was eventually shot, and his security team carried him away, but later the president confirmed that he had died.
«The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, has passed away», - Trump wrote in a statement via Truth Social. «No one understood or had the heart of the youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now he is no longer with us. Melania and my condolences go to his beautiful wife Erika and family. Charlie, we love you!»
The Republican followed in a separate post: «In honor of Charlie Kirk, truly a Great American Patriot, I order all American flags to be lowered across the country until Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m».
A devoted Trump supporter, Kirk showed his support for the president during his 2024 campaign. The 31-year-old Kirk was the founder of Turning Point USA, a non-profit organization that defends conservatives on university campuses. He also hosted his radio show «The Charlie Kirk Show» on «The Answer» Salem Media channel.
Additionally, Kirk was a member of the Board of Visitors of the United States Military Academy, which «deals with issues of morality, discipline, curriculum, instruction, physical equipment, financial affairs, academic methods, and other matters concerning the academy that the Board decides to consider».
In the afternoon of September 10, Kirk, reportedly, was answering a question about transgender mass shooters in the United States. Shortly after Kirk claimed that there were «too many» transgender mass shooters, shots were fired from a neighboring building on the university campus about 200 yards away from him, CNN reports.
From January 2013 to the present, there have been over 5700 mass shootings in America, and five of these shooters have been confirmed as transgender, according to Gun Violence Archive founder and executive director Mark Bryant, as reported by CNN.
Kirk was clearly hit by one of the shots, and he was seen slumping in his seat before blood began to flow down his neck. He was hospitalized and died later that same day.
Initially, the University of Utah Valley stated that the suspect was in custody, but later officials clarified at a press conference that this person was not the shooter. They added that the shooter was still at large.
At the time of publication, the identity of the shooter in Kirk’s death had not been disclosed.
A witness told CNN that on the day of Kirk’s event at the University of Utah Valley, there were «no security measures» in place. According to him, there were no metal detectors and no bag check requirements
