In April 2025, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, known for her courage in the legal battle against Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, and Prince Andrew, took her own life. The news came a month after the 41-year-old woman publicly stated that she had been alienated from her children and that they had been «poisoned with lies», - although it is still unclear what she meant by her statement. Furthermore, Virginia said that she was hit by a car and was diagnosed with kidney failure during hospitalization in March 2025.

Below you will learn about Virginia’s family, including her children.

Virginia was the first survivor of Jeffrey’s victims to reveal her identity. Initially known as Jane Doe in her lawsuit against him and his accomplice Ghislaine. According to her 2009 lawsuit, Virginia claimed that Ghislaine approached her in 2000 to recruit her into their sex trafficking network. She accused Ghislaine of covering up her work with her and Jeffrey as a traveling masseuse, while they prepared her to provide sexual services to wealthy men.

«Ghislaine told me I had to do for Andrew what I do for Jeffrey», - Virginia said.

Virginia was married to her husband, Robert Giuffre, from 2002 until early 2025, when, reportedly, they separated. It is unclear what led to the couple’s breakup. In the past, Virginia shared affectionate posts with Robert on Instagram. In December 2023, they celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary, and she credited Robert with saving her from Epstein and Maxwell’s sex trafficking network.

«I and my happy ending», - Virginia captioned the post. «21 years ago, this amazing man saved me from the clutches of Epstein and Maxwell. I thank God every day for putting this wonderful man in my life! I love you, Robbie G [sic]».

Virginia was the mother of three children, all of whom she shared with Robert. The Giuffre family kept their children away from the public eye, but Virginia shared photos of her children on Instagram a month before her death. In her carousel post, Virginia claimed that her children had been «poisoned with lies» and that she had not seen them.

«My beautiful children have no idea how much I love them, and they are being poisoned with lies», - she wrote in her caption. «I miss them so much. I have been through hell and back in my 41 years, but this causes me more pain than anything else. Hurt me, torture me, but do not take my children away. My heart is broken, and with each passing day, my sadness only deepens».

According to the family, Virginia took her own life three weeks after she posted on Instagram that she had kidney failure after a car accident and allegedly had four days to live.

«With completely broken hearts, we announce that Virginia passed away last night on her farm in Western Australia», - the Giuffre family told NBC News in a statement. «She lost her life to suicide after a lifetime of being a victim of sexual violence and sex trafficking».

The statement also said that Virginia was «a strong warrior in the fight against sexual violence and sex trafficking» and was «a light that lifted many survivors».

«In the end, the weight of the violence became so unbearable that Virginia found it impossible to bear its weight», - the statement concluded.
