Several hours before his death was confirmed by a family member, Medas' show partner, Amy Elizabeth Hall, asked fans for prayers and shared information about a GoFundMe fundraiser to help him pay for medical expenses. Hall noted that Medas was battling necrotizing pancreatitis, but his father said he died from other health issues. He was on a ventilator in the hospital.

Medas' father told TMZ that he died from liver failure after a two-week stay in a Miami hospital on a ventilator. Earlier, his show partner Hall announced on Instagram that he was battling necrotizing pancreatitis.
Necrotizing pancreatitis (NP) is when part of the pancreas dies due to inflammation or injury, according to Cedars-Sinai.
This condition occurs when the pancreas becomes inflamed or injured, and its enzymes leak out, ultimately damaging pancreatic tissue. NP can occur after acute pancreatitis, but it is unclear how Medas became ill.
In her Instagram post, Hall noted that Medas had been in the ICU for two weeks due to a «severe case» of NP.
«He is currently on a ventilator, and the situation is extremely serious», - Hall wrote alongside a carousel of photos, including one of Medas lying in a hospital bed. «Nilsa flies back and forth to Miami to be by his side, and I am lucky to stay in touch via FaceTime with his neighbors and close friends who keep us updated daily».
Hall also added that Medas did not have medical insurance, and his mother created a GoFundMe to help with the huge expenses.
