Jansen Panettiere passed away at the age of 28 in February 2023. The news was first reported by the TMZ portal, announcing Jansen’s death in New York on February 19. In addition to his own acting career, Jansen was known as the younger brother of actress Hayden Panettiere. Hayden, 35, and her family confirmed that Jansen passed away from cardiomegaly, or an enlarged heart, in combination with complications of the aortic valve, in a statement to ABC News.
Jansen was Hayden’s only brother. The couple’s parents — soap opera actress Leslie R. Vogel and firefighter lieutenant Alan «Skip» Panettiere.
In an interview with PEOPLE, published in September 2024, Hayden recalled the grief she went through after losing her brother.
«He was my only brother, and my job was to protect him», - said the star of the «Scream» franchise. «When I lost him, I felt like I lost half of my soul… I will always be saddened by this. I will never get over it. No matter how many years go by, I will never get over his loss».
