Donald Trump has appointed a new candidate to one of the most prominent positions in public health in the country. Dr. Nicole Saphier has become his latest nomination for the position of U.S. Surgeon General, replacing Dr. Jerome Adams.

So who is this doctor? Here’s everything you need to know about Saphier and her career.

As Trump noted in his announcement, Saphier is a practicing physician with experience in oncology. She works at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where she serves as the director of mammography at the Monmouth, New Jersey branch.

Saphier’s work focuses on the early detection of cancer, particularly in patients with breast cancer. Her medical education includes a Doctor of Medicine degree from Ross University, as well as completing advanced residencies, including time at the Mayo Clinic.

Outside of the hospital, Saphier has built a media presence as a commentator on Fox News, where she regularly discusses health topics and medical news. She joined the network in 2018.

She also hosts her own podcast, «Wellness Unmasked», - where she addresses current health issues such as nutrition and public policy.

Saphier is not only a clinician but also an author. Her 2020 book, «Make America Healthy Again», - advocates for a prevention-focused approach to healthcare and critiques government healthcare systems.
