Immediately after Pam Bondi’s dismissal as U.S. Attorney General, Donald Trump appointed former prosecutor Todd Blanche as acting Attorney General. This unexpected turn of events came after reports that Trump had become «disappointed» with Bondi. Naturally, the public wants to know more about Blanche and his connection to Trump.
Trump announced Blanche’s new role on April 2, 2026, effectively firing Bondi. The Republican president described Blanche as «very talented and respected», - thanking Bondi for her service as Attorney General.
«Pam Bondi is a great American patriot and a loyal friend who has faithfully served as my Attorney General for the past year», - Trump wrote on the social media platform Truth Social. «Pam has done a tremendous job overseeing a nationwide fight against crime, resulting in the murder rate falling to its lowest level since 1900. We love Pam, and she will be moving on to an important new job in the private sector, which will be announced soon, while our Deputy Attorney General, a very talented and respected lawyer Todd Blanche, will take over as acting Attorney General».
In response, Blanche released a statement on X.com, noting that Bondi «led this department with strength and conviction, and I am grateful to her for her leadership and friendship».
«Thank you to President Trump for the trust and opportunity to serve as acting Attorney General», - Blanche continued. «We will continue to support law enforcement, enforce the law, and do everything possible to ensure the safety of America».
