Former Democrat Tulsi Gabbard has endorsed Republican candidate Donald Trump for the 2024 presidential election. During a speech at Trump’s National Guard conference in Detroit on Monday, August 26, the 43-year-old Gabbard emphasized her support for him.
«This administration is forcing us to face multiple wars on multiple fronts in different regions of the world, and we are closer to the brink of nuclear war than ever before», - she said, citing various sources. «This is one of the main reasons why I am committed to doing everything possible to return President Trump to the White House, where he can once again serve us as our commander-in-chief».
Gabbard added that everyone in the United States «must stand together to reject this anti-freedom culture of political vengeance and abuse of power».
«We cannot allow our country to be destroyed by politicians who prioritize their own power over the interests of the American people, our freedom, and our future», - added the former U.S. representative. «I am proud to stand here before you today, whether you are a Democrat, Republican, or independent. If you love our country, as I do, if you value peace and freedom, as we do, I invite you to join me in everything we can do to save our country and elect President Donald J. Trump and return him to the White House to do the hard work of saving our country and serving the people».
Elsewhere in her speech, the U.S. Army Reserve officer stated that Trump, 78, «understands the heavy responsibility that the president and commander-in-chief bears for each of our lives».
«We saw this during his first term as president, when he not only did not start new wars, but took actions to resolve and prevent them», - she said. «He showed the courage we expect from our commander-in-chief, exhausting all diplomatic measures, having the courage to meet with adversaries, dictators, allies, and partners in the pursuit of peace, seeing war as a last resort».
Previously, Gabbard served as the U.S. Representative for Hawaii’s 2nd congressional district from 2013 to 2021. In 2020, she ran for the Democratic presidential nomination. That year, she endorsed President Joe Biden, who subsequently won the election. Two years later, Gabbard left the Democratic Party to become an independent
