The father of NHL’s Colorado Avalanche forward Logan O’Connor, Miles O’Connor, passed away on October 8. The team announced this through their social media, expressing condolences to Logan and his family during this difficult time.

The cause of death was not disclosed, and Miles O’Connor was 59 years old. Logan, who is 30, has taken a break from playing for the team to be with his family. He did not participate in the game against the Calgary Flames, which ended with the Avalanche winning 7−3, as he was preparing to return to the lineup after a lower-body injury sustained during preseason training.

Miles O’Connor played four seasons in the NHL, representing the New Jersey Devils and the Anaheim Mighty Ducks from 1990 to 1994. He was selected by the Devils in the second round of the 1985 NHL Draft after studying at the University of Michigan.

Sportsnet journalist Eric Francis expressed his condolences, noting that Miles was one of the first people to welcome him in Calgary. He also emphasized that Miles was a proud father and an outstanding businessman. Logan O’Connor won the Stanley Cup with the Avalanche in 2022 and later brought the trophy to Calgary to share the joy with the local community.
