Winona Judd talks about new album and loss of her mother

Winona Judd, in an interview with Mona Kosar Abdi, spoke about her new album «The Hard Truth», - which is her first in over ten years. In the conversation, she shared that after the death of her mother, Naomi, she went through a difficult period.

Naomi Judd died by suicide four years ago, and Winona noted that it was one of the worst days of her life. She recalled finding her mother on the floor and admitted that she still struggles to cope with this loss. Winona also mentioned that the day after the tragedy, she was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, which was a significant challenge for her.

In the interview, Winona emphasized that she has now found peace with the situation, although it took four years. She stated that «suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem». In the album «The Hard Truth», - she also addresses her relationships with her mother and her daughter Grace Kelly, who is currently in prison and battling addiction.

Winona expressed hope that her music will help people feel and heal, adding that she wants at least one person to choose life over suicide. The album «The Hard Truth» is already available for streaming.
