Brian Thompson was shot and killed on December 4, 2024 outside the Hilton hotel in Midtown Manhattan as he was arriving for an investor conference with his company United Healthcare. He was 50 years old. The shooter fled the scene, and Brian was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai West hospital the same day. He left behind a family: his wife and their children.
Brian was married to his wife, Paulette Thompson. She spoke to NBC News shortly after her husband was shot and revealed that Brian had received «several threats» before he was killed.
«There were threats. I don’t know, lack of security?» Paulette said in a phone call with the publication. «I don’t know the details. I just know that he mentioned that some people were threatening him. … I can’t give a thoughtful response right now. I just found out about it and I’m trying to comfort my children».
Paulette works as a physical therapist at Park Nicollet Health Services. She obtained a master’s degree in physical therapy after attending the University of Iowa, where she met Brian.
According to the Daily Mail, her work biography states: «I love spending time with my two boys and taking them to all their activities. I also enjoy boating, spending time with family and friends, playing the piano, biking, and traveling. I am dedicated and passionate when it comes to wellness and want to change the lives of others.
