The murder of Jonathan Joss: the husband of the deceased actor claims
Jonathan Joss became the main news after his murder in June 2025. At the beginning of the month, the late 59-year-old voice actor of King of the Hill was fatally wounded, allegedly by a neighbor, in San Antonio, Texas. Shortly before this, his husband, Tristan Kern De Gonzalez, stated that Joss’s murder was a hate crime and that the newlyweds had been victims of previous homophobic attacks in the area. However, the police stated that there was no evidence pointing to a homophobic motive. So why was Joss killed?

Below are updates on the investigation into Joss’s murder.

Two of Joss’s most famous roles were John Redcorn in King of the Hill and his upcoming revival, as well as Chief Ken Hotate in Parks and Recreation. He also appeared in series such as Walker, Texas Ranger, The Wild Thornberrys, Charmed, ER, In Plain Sight, Friday Night Lights, Parks and Recreation, and Tulsa King, according to his IMDb profile.

Joss’s husband, Kern De Gonzalez, stated in a Facebook post that the late actor had become a victim of homophobic shooting.

«[Jonathan] was killed by someone who couldn’t stand the sight of two men loving each other», - claimed Joss’s husband. «My husband Jonathan Joss and I were involved in a shooting while checking the mail at our former home. This home had been burned down after more than two years of threats from people in the area who constantly told us they would burn it down. We repeatedly reported these threats to law enforcement, but nothing was done. During this time, we were regularly harassed by people who clearly did not accept our relationship. Most of the harassment was openly homophobic».

Kern De Gonzalez continued in his statement on Facebook: «When we returned to check the mail, we found the skull of one of our dogs and his leash displayed. This caused both of us intense emotional suffering. We began to scream and cry in response to the pain of what we saw. As we did this, a man approached us. He began shouting violent homophobic insults. Then he raised a gun from his knee and shot. Jonathan and I had no weapons. We were not threatening anyone. We were mourning. We were standing together. When the man shot, Jonathan pushed me aside. He saved my life».

The San Antonio police responded to his accusations, saying: «Despite online statements that this was a hate crime, at this time the investigation has not found evidence that Mr. Joss’s murder was related to his sexual orientation».

The suspect in Joss’s murder was identified as Sigfredo Alvarez Seha. According to The Independent, he was arrested about a quarter mile from the crime scene, and he was charged with first-degree murder. Alvarez Seha’s bail was set at $ 200,000, and his first court hearing is scheduled for August 2025, the publication reports
