Music teacher Dziamo Chen arrested for possession of child sexual abuse materials

In California, music educator Jiamo Chen has been arrested on charges of possessing materials related to child sexual abuse on personal devices. According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, investigators from the high-tech crimes unit began the investigation after suspicions arose regarding the downloading of such materials.
During the investigation, Chen, 43, was identified as a suspect. He worked at a home music studio where he taught music lessons to children, some as young as 4 years old. According to the investigation, Chen had been teaching in the Sacramento area for ten years. On September 30, investigators conducted a search of his home and found evidence of child sexual abuse materials.
Chen was arrested and charged with possession of such materials, after which he was placed in the main jail of Sacramento County. Despite the materials found, investigators did not uncover evidence that Chen had inappropriate physical contact with children or his students. However, they expressed concern that Chen had access to children who came to him for lessons.
The Sheriff’s Office urged parents and guardians whose children took music lessons from Chen to talk to them about their interactions with the educator. Authorities are also working to determine whether there may be other unreported incidents involving Chen and minors. So far, there is no information about any previous complaints against him.
It is unclear whether Chen has entered a plea or hired an attorney following his arrest. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office did not respond to a request for comments on the case, which remains under investigation.
