Wendy McLendon-Covey responded to recent statements made by her former colleague Jeff Garlin, who described her as «very upset» following his departure from the show «The Goldbergs». In a social media comment, she noted that she remembers events quite differently, as do the other members of the cast and crew, including actors, writers, and executives.
Garlin claimed in a Daily Beast podcast «Obsessed» that his undiagnosed bipolar disorder affected his behavior on set. He expressed sympathy for McLendon-Covey, adding that he was unhappy on the show and with his own performance. Garlin also recalled receiving support from McLendon-Covey, who played his wife.
In December 2021, reports emerged that Garlin allegedly behaved inappropriately on the set of «The Goldbergs», - leading to an internal investigation. He denied the allegations, stating that he was not fired and that his behavior did not pose a threat to others. Ultimately, his contract was terminated in 2021, and the series was canceled after 10 seasons on ABC. McLendon-Covey had previously stated that Garlin’s departure was a «long time coming» event.
