Dancer Whitney Carson disagrees with judge Carrie Ann Inaba’s criticism of her performance with Guillermo Rodriguez at the evening dedicated to Mariah Carey. In an interview with TV Insider on October 6, Carson noted that Inaba’s comment about Rodriguez’s «light» being «dimmed» was «inappropriate».
Carson and Rodriguez performed a samba to the song «Obsessed», - but Inaba expressed dissatisfaction, questioning where Rodriguez’s joy went during the dance. She emphasized that he should always maintain his energy and smile. In response, the audience began to boo, and Inaba added that her job is to provide such evaluations.
Ultimately, the pair received 13 points out of 30, the lowest score of the evening, but remained in the show as another couple was eliminated. Rodriguez later stated that he disagreed with Inaba’s remark, claiming that he tried to be a «diva» in line with the image the song required. Carson supported him, adding that regardless of the image, Rodriguez’s «light» will always shine.
Both participants expressed gratitude to their fans for their support and hope to continue participating in the show. «I am very happy and excited that we have so many people behind us», - Rodriguez said. The show «Dancing with the Stars» airs on Tuesdays on ABC and Disney+.
