The cast of the series «Emily in Paris» has suffered a loss. During the filming of the sixth and final season of the Netflix series, French actor Pierre Deni passed away on May 25, 2026, at the age of 69.

Deni’s daughters announced his death in a statement released through the AFP news agency. They wrote: «It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Pierre Deni this Monday (May 25) after a sudden and severe case of ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis)».

Deni was a talented theater actor who transitioned to mainstream television. He began his career on stage in the 1980s before landing more stable roles on television.

The late French actor was known for his roles in projects such as «Under the Sun», - «A Woman of Honor», - «Five Sisters», - «More Than Life», - and «Tomorrow is Our Day».

In «Emily in Paris», - Deni played the character Louis de Leon, the CEO of the luxury fashion conglomerate JVMA. He appeared on the show in 2022 and again in 2024.

Series star Paul Forman paid tribute to Deni in an Instagram Stories post shortly after the announcement of his death.

«With a broken heart, I learned of Pierre Deni’s passing», - Forman wrote. «It was an honor for me to work with him and to see his warmth and talent up close. I am thinking of his family and loved ones. Rest in peace».

As mentioned, Deni’s children reported that he passed away after a «sudden and severe case of ALS».

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. According to the Mayo Clinic, the disease begins with muscle twitches, weakness in the arms or legs, difficulty swallowing, and/or slurred speech.

As a progressive disease, symptoms worsen over time. There is no cure for ALS; it is a fatal condition.
