Campbell was an American professional basketball player who played 15 seasons in the NBA from 1990 to 2005. He was born on July 23, 1968, in Los Angeles, California, and played college basketball for the Clemson Tigers, becoming the school’s all-time leading scorer. In an Instagram post, the school wrote: «We mourn the loss of Elden Campbell, our all-time leading scorer, All-American player, and three-time All-ACC player, who passed away at the age of 57».
Campbell was selected 27th overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 1990 NBA Draft and spent most of the decade with the team before moving on to other clubs—ultimately winning an NBA championship with the Detroit Pistons in 2004.
