David «Ace» Cannon, known for his participation in «The Ace & TJ Show» until the end of 2024, passed away in February 2024. Reports indicate he was 56 years old. Cannon was widely popular in Charlotte, North Carolina, as the radio show he co-hosted with Richie 'TJ' Bims originated from that region. Recently, it was renamed to «The TJ & Riggins Show» after Cannon’s co-hosting duties abruptly ended in late 2024. While fans mourn the loss of the radio host, many want to know what happened to him.
In a statement posted on Instagram on February 4, 2025, the account of «The TJ & Riggins Show» wrote: «Our prayers are with our brother. We are shocked by this news». They also asked viewers to remember Cannon’s family, adding at the end of the statement: «We love you, Ace».

Outside of his radio career, Cannon was a husband and father. Cannon and his wife Amanda were reportedly divorced at the time of his death. The couple raised a son together, and Cannon was also a father to another son from his first wife, Shawnette, according to Daily Mail. Additionally, Cannon lost his late daughter Peyton in a tragic car accident when she was 21, which led him to create the non-profit organization «Promise for Peyton».
According to reports from various sources, Cannon abruptly left «The Ace & TJ Show» in September 2024, which his former co-host TJ seems to have acknowledged in an Instagram statement at that time.
«I know you all are looking for more information about the changes we made to our program, but we cannot provide additional details», - TJ wrote via Instagram on the show’s official account. «To the many members of the Radio Family who have shared their lives with us and supported us over the years, I just want to say thank you. We had to make changes quickly, and we know we will still bring you a quality show. We just ask you to give us a chance. One of our affiliate stations decided not to give us that chance. This also happened with our largest, K 104.7, our flagship station in our home market of Charlotte, North Carolina».
TJ urged his fans from Charlotte to «keep listening, streaming, or downloading the entire show every day».
It is still unclear why Ace decided to leave the radio program after years of collaboration with TJ.
The cause of Cannon’s death has not been disclosed. His sister, Piper Wilson, announced Ace’s death on social media, according to Fox 8
