New Found Glory guitarist Chad Gilbert dies after brain cancer
Chad Gilbert, the guitarist of the band New Found Glory, passed away at the age of 45 after battling brain cancer. His wife, Lisa Simorelli, announced the news on Instagram on September 20, specifying that he died surrounded by loved ones, as he wished.

Lisa expressed gratitude for having family by his side in his final moments. She noted that the number of visitors in the hospital reflected how loved and valued Chad was. According to her, he was a legendary musician, but his greatest pride remained his roles as a husband and father.

Gilbert is survived by his wife and their five-year-old daughter, Lily. He was one of the founding members of the band, which also includes vocalist Jordan Pundik, bassist Ian Grushka, and drummer Cyrus Bolooki. In a separate statement, the band noted that Gilbert’s contributions to music, his humor, and his drive for growth shaped New Found Glory for nearly three decades.

Just seven months ago, Gilbert revealed his diagnosis. In March, he shared that he had been experiencing difficulties with the movement of his left arm and weakness in his left leg during a concert in Nashville. After being examined in the hospital, three new tumors were found in his brain. He later underwent successful surgery to remove the tumors and reported on his recovery.
