We are devastated by the loss of this beautiful soul and want to acknowledge his brave struggle with nearly two decades of battling bipolar disorder».
Robert’s struggle with bipolar disorder was not known to the public until after his death. Keith noted in his statement that their family hopes that the late actor’s «journey» can shed light on and help overcome the stigma associated with mental illness.
«We want people to know about this, and there is nothing shameful about it», - Keith continued. «It's an illness that overcame him, and I want to celebrate his fight against it and his beautiful soul. He was a gifted man, and we will miss him every day. We will find comfort in how funny, wise, and completely accepting and tolerant he could be. That’s what my younger brother was like».
