Former child actress Daveigh Chase, best known for her roles in «Lilo & Stitch» and «The Ring», - passed away on June 16, 2026, after a series of health issues. She was 35 years old. The official cause of Chase’s death has not yet been disclosed; however, one of her close friends shared how she spent her final days.

Daveigh Chase rose to fame by voicing the character Lilo in the 2002 Disney animated film «Lilo & Stitch» and its television series. She also gained notoriety for her role as Samara Morgan in the cult horror film «The Ring», - for which she won an MTV Movie Award for Best Villain.

Throughout her acting career, Chase appeared in projects such as «Big Love», - «Donnie Darko», - «Beethoven's 5th», - «Sabrina the Teenage Witch», - «ER», - and «Mercy».

Although the official cause of death has not been made public, her boyfriend Roy Hernandez told TMZ on June 17, 2026, that Chase died from meningitis and blood infections, which led to septic complications and organ failure.

The publication also reported that Chase had been hospitalized in Los Angeles earlier in the month due to malnutrition.

Hernandez created a GoFundMe page shortly before her death was confirmed. In the fundraising description, he wrote that Chase’s condition had become «critical, and the doctors told me she might not have much time left».

«All she ever wanted was a place where we could live together, feel safe, and be happy», - the GoFundMe page states. «Now, more than ever, I want to give her that feeling of home and peace in her final days».

Meningitis is a condition in which the fluids and membranes surrounding the brain become inflamed. According to the Mayo Clinic, meningitis can be caused by viral infections, bacteria, and fungi. Patients with this illness typically require urgent treatment.

Symptoms of meningitis include headache, fever, neck stiffness, nausea or vomiting, confusion, seizures, fatigue, sensitivity to light, and a lack of desire to eat or drink, according to information from the Mayo Clinic.
