Sophie Kinsella received the love and support of her husband, Henry Wickham, in the last years of her life as she battled glioblastoma. The renowned author of the Shopaholic series passed away at the age of 55 in December 2025, as her family announced in a statement on her Instagram page.
«With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Sophie (also known as Maddy and Mommy)», - the announcement reads. «She left peacefully, and her final days were filled with those she loved: family, music, warmth, Christmas, and joy. We cannot imagine life without her brightness and love for life».
The statement also notes, «Despite her illness, which she bore with incredible courage, Sophie considered herself truly blessed to have such a wonderful family and friends, as well as incredible success in her writing career. She never took anything for granted and was always grateful for the love she received. We will miss her dearly; our hearts are broken».

«The first symptoms were… my legs. I was tripping, falling», - the late author explained. «I started having very severe headaches. I became very confused. But when I started falling off my chair, we realized that something was really wrong».
After an eight-hour surgery to remove the tumor, Kinsella continued to undergo chemotherapy and radiotherapy
