Leslie Charleson, whom most recognized as Monica Quartermaine from «General Hospital», - passed away on January 12, 2025. She was 79 years old. Although the official cause of death has not yet been determined, she died after battling health issues, Variety reports. Leslie’s friend, «General Hospital» executive producer Frank Valentini, confirmed her death in a public statement.

«With a heavy heart, I announce the passing of my dear friend and colleague Leslie Charleson», - Valentini wrote on social media. «Her indelible legacy spans nearly 50 years on 'General Hospital,' and just as Monica was the heart of the Quartermaines, Leslie was the beloved matriarch of the entire cast and crew. I will miss our daily conversations, her wit, and incredible presence on set. On behalf of everyone at 'General Hospital,' my heartfelt condolences go out to her loved ones in this difficult time».

The official cause of Charleson’s death has not yet been determined. However, Variety reported that she passed away after a «long illness». It is still unclear what illness Charleson was living with. Additionally, the publication reported that Charleson had «suffered several falls» in recent years, which hindered her mobility. Ultimately, she needed a walker, and a week before her death, she was hospitalized, Variety reports.

Charleson was married to her ex-husband, J. William «Bill» Demms, from 1988 to 1991. Demms was a businessman, and he married Charleson in a private ceremony, The New York Times reports.
