Flying on a commercial plane has its drawbacks, such as long waits, delays, and even cancellations. Trying to improve themselves with updated technologies and standards, United Airlines has just introduced a new check-in rule for customers, which will take effect on June 3, 2025. So what changes in the rules and how will this affect United Airlines travelers?
According to information on the United website, the airline «has set time frames for check-in and baggage drop-off. If you fail to check in on time, we will try to find another option. However, we reserve the right to refuse service, which may result in the cancellation of your reservation, refusal to board, or the ability to check baggage».
Below you will learn what United Airlines will soon introduce and what you need to know about traveling with this airline.
The current check-in rule for United Airlines passengers on domestic flights is that they must check in for the flight no later than 30 minutes before the scheduled departure.
Starting on June 3, 2025, all passengers flying with United Airlines without baggage must check in for the flight no later than 45 minutes before departure — this is a change from 30 minutes.
The check-in time for international flights will remain unchanged, staying at 60 minutes before departure.
The check-in time for United Airlines domestic flights will require passengers to arrive at the airport a little earlier than before. However, some travelers may not be affected at all, as most airlines offer digital check-in online or through their apps. United Airlines, in turn, offers customers the opportunity to check in 24 hours before departure.
Overall, checking in for a flight at the last minute is becoming less possible these days
