Erin was located approximately 690 miles west of the Cape Verde Islands in Africa around 5 am Eastern Time, according to the National Hurricane Center. Erin currently has maximum sustained winds of around 45 miles per hour, with higher gusts.

According to the forecasted path, Erin is moving west and is expected to continue in this direction for the next few days, as meteorologists have indicated.
