Now that Hurricane Milton has passed through Florida, many are wondering if another hurricane will follow. The next hurricane name will be Nadine, but is it possible that Hurricane Leslie will soon appear?
Find out more about Hurricane Leslie and whether another storm is in store for Florida.
As of the time of publication, a full-fledged hurricane has not yet formed in the Atlantic. There is currently no threat to Florida after Milton. However, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) is monitoring two tropical formations that could develop into hurricanes Nadine and Leslie.
According to the NHC website, Leslie «likely reached peak strength» on Thursday, October 10. It is moving northwest and is currently located in the middle of the southern part of the Atlantic Ocean.
Earlier this week, the NHC noted on its website: «While the surrounding conditions appear only partially favorable for further development, a short-lived tropical or subtropical storm may form today or tonight as the low moves northeastward or east-northeastward at about 15 mph. Strengthening of upper-level winds is expected late tonight, which should limit chances for further development».
Nadine is currently known as «Invest 93L». It is not yet considered a tropical storm or hurricane. However, if Nadine forms, the projected path will be through the southern part of the Atlantic Ocean, and the storm may move towards Florida. However, this seems unlikely.
Milton left behind extensive damage and flooding. Initially expected to make landfall on Thursday, October 10, early in the morning, the hurricane accelerated and hit the west coast on the evening of Wednesday, October 9. As a result, many residents were left without power, and others were forced to evacuate from flooded homes. The counties most affected by flooding and chaos are Pinellas, Sarasota, and others. Milton moved away from the east coast of Florida on Thursday morning, October 10.
Orlando International Airport temporarily closed in preparation for the hurricane, and other tourist attractions also closed due to the hurricane
