Usha Vance called the security for her newborn son absurd
Usha Vance, the wife of U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, shared her thoughts on parenting under increased public scrutiny. In an interview with Daily Wire published on September 22, she noted that their newborn son Alex, who is only two months old, has Secret Service protection, which was not the case for their previous children.

Usha acknowledged that having security for a newborn seems absurd, as Alex is always close to her. She also discussed what it is like to raise a child in the public eye, noting that people are generally kind and supportive.

Alex is the first child born to a sitting vice president in over 150 years. His predecessor was Schuyler Colfax III, who was born in 1870. Usha and J.D. Vance announced the pregnancy in January, and Alex was born on July 19. In their statement, they expressed gratitude to the medical staff who assisted them during this time.

Usha also talked about how the older children are adapting to their roles as older siblings. She praised J.D. for successfully balancing his duties as a father and vice president, and noted that his team does everything possible to allow him to spend time with the family.
