Duck Dynasty family patriarch, Phil Robertson, passed away in May 2025, five months after his family revealed some health issues he was struggling with. The most serious of these was Alzheimer’s disease. Although Phil kept most details about his health away from the public eye, one of his children announced the news at the end of 2024.

The cause of Phil’s death was not immediately disclosed. However, his family had previously stated that the reality show star had been living with Alzheimer’s disease for five months before his death.
Willie Robertson and his wife, Korie Robertson, posted on Instagram, announcing his father’s death. They wrote: «Today we celebrate that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord. He often reminded us of the words of Paul: 'do not grieve as those who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him'».
Willie and Korie added: «Thank you for the love and prayers of many whose lives were changed by his life, saved by grace, his bold faith, and his desire to tell everyone who wanted to listen, the Good News about Jesus. We are grateful for his life on earth and will continue the legacy of love for God and love for neighbor until we see him again. We know that many of you love him and have been touched by his life. While we have a private service, we will soon share details about a public celebration of his life».
Another son of Phil, Jase Robertson, also made a public statement about his father’s death. He wrote on Twitter: «My father went to the Lord today! He will be missed, but we know he is in good hands, and our family is okay because God is very good! We will see each other again! #PhilRobertson #Jesus».
In December 2024, Jase revealed on the Robertson family podcast «Unashamed» that Phil was living with Alzheimer’s disease and that it was worsening.
«He's not doing well. He’s really struggling», - Jase said, adding that Phil’s disease «has accelerated and is causing problems with his entire body».
Jase also noted that at the time his father was living with «some sort of blood disorder that is causing all kinds of issues».
Alzheimer’s disease has no cure. It is a neurodegenerative disease that progresses over time and affects a person’s memory. It ultimately affects their ability to perform simple tasks, and the patient’s mental and physical health deteriorates
