Irv Gotti, one of the most famous record producers and music producers, whose real name is Irving Domingo Lorenzo Jr., passed away at the age of 54.
His family released a statement on his Instagram, which reads: «With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Irving 'Irv Gotti' Lorenzo, on February 5, 2025. He has left this world, leaving a legacy that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him, and in the lives of many he touched. Our father was an incredible man, a true visionary who transformed the hip-hop industry and changed the game for artists and fans. His passion for music and dedication to his craft inspired many, and his contributions will continue to impact future generations».
Born in 1970 and raised in Queens, New York, Gotti founded Murder Inc. Records in 1998 with his brother Chris Gotti as a division of Def Jam Records.
Over the years, he worked with several outstanding artists, including DMX, Ashanti, and Ja Rule.
According to many reports, Gotti was previously married to Debbie Lorenzo, and the couple divorced in 2013.
They even appeared on the VH1 reality show «Gotti's Way», - where fans got an inside look at their relationship and subsequent breakup.
Gotti leaves behind children — Angie, Sonny, and Jonathan Wilson — whom he shared with his ex-wife, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The exact cause of Gotti’s death remains unclear, although THR reported that he had suffered strokes in recent years and also faced health issues related to diabetes.
Just before news of Gotti’s death became known, Kyle Justice from AllHipHop stated that the music producer had suffered a stroke that led to bleeding in the brain, as reported by WBLS. The day before Gotti’s death was announced, record producer Russell Simmons posted on Instagram expressing concern about Gotti’s health. In his message, Simmons revealed that Gotti had been placed on a ventilator.
«We pray for Irv’s full recovery», - Simmons captioned his post. «Such a joyful, inspired, kind man, such a beloved person, people, keep praying. People my age and younger are seeing the consequences of toxic food and a toxic environment, pray for our brother and try to make the necessary changes to your and your [family's] diets and lifestyles [sic]»
