Chris Kristofferson passed away: details, family, children Chris Kristofferson passed away: details, family, children
Chris Kristofferson passed away on Saturday, September 28, leaving behind his wife and children. His family announced his peaceful passing in an Instagram post published on Sunday, September 29. The post read: «We are all so grateful for our time with him. Thank you for loving him all these years, and when you see a rainbow, know that he is smiling down on all of us from above».

The family of the «A Star is Born» actor requested privacy as they mourn the loss of their loved one. To learn more about his children, keep reading.

Chris Kristofferson had eight children from different relationships. He was first married to Fran Beir from 1960 to 1969, then to singer Rita Coolidge from 1973 to 1980, and finally to his now widowed wife Lisa Meyers, whom he married in 1983.

Chris’s children, all carrying his surname, include Tracy and Chris Kristofferson Jr. from his marriage to Fran. He also had a daughter, Casey, from his marriage to Rita. Additionally, Chris had five children — Jesse, Jody, Johnny, Kelly Marie, and Blake — with Lisa.

Although the cause of Chris’s death was not disclosed, it was known that he was battling Lyme disease. In a 2016 interview for LymeDisease.org, his wife Lisa shared: «About 12 years ago, he was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, which in hindsight should have been the first clue that the Lyme disease test was warranted», - she said. «But we suspect he was infected with Lyme disease from 14 to 30 years old because he had chronic muscle spasms, which is a common symptom».

His wife spoke about his suffering, saying that he experienced «massive, painful spasms all over his back and legs — it was so awful — his nerve endings were causing painful contractions the size of a golf ball, which we fought with acupuncture, heat, and massage, and then finally a rheumatologist’s spinal cortisone shot and a low dose of antidepressant».

His death came after he retired from the entertainment industry in 2021
