Larry Allen — a legend of the Dallas Cowboys and a member of the Hall of Fame — suddenly passed away at the age of 52. According to reports, at the time of his death, he was on vacation with his family in Mexico. The Cowboys released a statement through X on Monday, June 3, confirming this news.

«Larry, known for his outstanding athletic abilities and incredible strength, was one of the most respected and successful offensive linemen to ever play in the NFL», - the Cowboys wrote in their statement. «His versatility and reliability were also characteristic of his career. Through this, he continued to serve as an inspiration to many other players, defining what it means to be a great teammate, competitor, and winner».

Elsewhere in the statement, the Cowboys noted that Allen «was deeply loved and cared for his wife, Janelle — whom he called his heart and soul — his daughters Jayla and Lorianne, and his son, Larry III».

«The Jones family and the Cowboys express their deepest condolences, thoughts, and prayers to the Allen family and mourn together with many other friends and teammates of the Cowboys who also loved Larry», - the statement concluded.

The cause of Allen’s death at the time of publication had not been confirmed.

Other athletes and members of the NFL community expressed their condolences to the Allen family and honored the memory of the late player. Former Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman took to social media to pay tribute to his former teammate.

«Just received heart-breaking news about the passing of our beloved teammate Larry Allen», - Aikman wrote in a tweet. «He was a Hall of Fame offensive lineman who dominated opponents regardless of position. Off the field, he was a gentle giant who loved his family. Rest in peace, LA».

The NFL also released a statement through X, noting that they «deeply mourn the passing of Hall of Famer, Super Bowl champion, and Cowboys legend, Larry Allen».

Allen is considered one of the strongest football players in the league. The former offensive lineman and guard played for the team from 1994 to 2005. Allen retired in 2009 and was later inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2013
