Two people have been arrested in Florida on suspicion of orchestrating a robbery at a store, during which one of them was dressed in a mask of Michael Myers from the movie «Halloween». According to the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, the robbery was planned by store employee Rene Bedford.
The 46-year-old Bedford reported to the police on September 20 that the Citrus Liquor Store in Inverness had been robbed by a man in a mask. However, surveillance footage showed Bedford laughing during the incident, and the robber was identified as a white male, which did not match her description.
After the robbery, the store owners discovered that $ 3,018 was missing. During the investigation, detectives received information about 47-year-old Richard Lassiter, who is alleged to have been the robber. He claimed that Bedford had offered to organize the robbery, providing details about the surveillance system and cash handling procedures.
After being questioned, Bedford denied the allegations but appeared nervous. As a result, she was arrested and found to be in possession of drugs. She has been charged with being an accessory to armed robbery, grand theft, and possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine. Lassiter was also arrested on charges of armed robbery and grand theft. Information regarding Bedford’s legal representation is currently unavailable.
The Citrus County Sheriff noted that this case highlights the importance of thorough investigations, as detectives quickly identified discrepancies in the testimonies and uncovered a crime disguised as a robbery.
