Parents arrested in Ohio for child abuse
Two parents from Ohio, Jonathan Parr and Jacqueline Coleman, were arrested on October 13 and charged with abuse of nine children, who were reportedly locked in cages and had nails placed between their toes to prevent them from «stealing food». This was reported by the Licking County Sheriff’s Office in a press release.

The arrest occurred after child protective services received information about possible abuse and neglect. During a search of their home in Etna Township, horrific living conditions were discovered, raising serious concerns for the health and safety of the children. All nine minors, aged between 1 and 13 years, were removed and placed in the custody of child services.

According to the criminal complaint, the alleged abuse began on April 6, 2023, and continued until the time of the arrest. The complaint states that the children were subjected to physical abuse, including a lack of food and water, as well as being forced to stand for long periods with nails between their toes and being locked in cages. One boy reported that he and his brother were made to «stand against the wall in a squat with their hands raised» for extended periods.

The report also mentions that the conditions in the home were «horrific». The bathroom contained dirty dishes and insects, and the toilet was in a state of disrepair. According to authorities, at least four children were living in a shed on the property.

Parr denied the allegations, stating in court: «This is not true. I love my children. I would die for my children». Both parents are being held at the Licking County Justice Center, each with a bond set at $ 150,000. It is unclear whether they have made any statements following their arrest. The Licking County Sheriff’s Office did not respond to a request for comment on the case.
