In Texas, two women were found dead in an apartment in Wells Branch, presumably as a result of a murder-suicide. According to the Travis County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement arrived at the scene around 8:45 AM on September 23 after the complex manager discovered the bodies.
The manager reported that he entered the apartment to carry out his duties. After receiving no response to his knock, he entered the premises and found both women dead. An investigation has been initiated, and preliminary data suggests that the women may have died as a result of a murder-suicide. However, authorities noted that the investigation is in its early stages, and the motive has not yet been established.
The Sheriff’s Office added that they do not believe a third party was involved and do not see any threat to the public in connection with this incident. The identities of the women have not yet been disclosed, and it is unclear what their relationship was to each other. The police also did not clarify whether both women lived in the apartment together.
Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Christine Dark stated that the apartment door was ajar when the manager arrived at the scene. She added that there had been no reports of disturbances, strange noises, or gunshots prior to the discovery of the bodies. Both women were found with gunshot wounds, and according to Dark, the killings likely occurred before dawn, judging by the condition of the bodies.
The Sheriff’s Office noted that this is the 13th murder investigation since the beginning of 2026, which marks a sharp increase compared to the previous year when only eight murders were recorded. The investigation is ongoing, and the police are working to determine the circumstances leading up to the tragedy.
