For the first time in over a year, Wendy Williams was seen in a public place. The 60-year-old former host recently visited a local holistic store in Newark, New Jersey, with her son, Kevin Hunter Jr., and the establishment posted photos from her outing on social media.
«Big love to Wendy Williams and her son @topfloor_kev», - the Bolingo Balance store captioned the post on Instagram last week. «I remember when I met Kevin in Usha Village, my father told me, I want you to meet Wendy’s son. We were the only peers in Usha at the time».
An employee told Page Six that Wendy seemed «sharp, lively, and attentive» and «very much alive» during her visit, adding that she «was sociable, but not as familiar with what we do here, so her son explained things more».
«She talked about improving circulation, but didn’t want to delve into details on their first meeting and plans to return in the near future», - the employee added.
This is the first time Wendy has been seen in a public place since March 2023. The media personality has been battling health issues for many years, including Graves' disease, primary progressive aphasia, and frontotemporal dementia (FTD).
Earlier this year, the documentary «Where's Wendy Williams?» was released by Lifetime. Throughout the candid film, the former talk show host provided an intimate look into her personal life. At one point in the documentary, she told viewers, «I have no money. And I’ll tell you something. If it can happen to me, it can happen to you».
In the same month, Wendy released a statement obtained by PEOPLE, noting that she hopes «others with FTD can benefit from [her] story».
«I want to say that I am infinitely grateful for the love and kind words I have received after sharing my diagnosis of aphasia and frontotemporal dementia (FTD)», - she said. «Let me say, wow! Your response has been amazing. The recent messages you shared with me have touched me, reminding me of the power of unity and the need for compassion. … I still need personal space and peace to thrive. Just know that your positivity and support are deeply appreciated»
