Violet Affleck grew up in the public eye thanks to her famous parents, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck. Interest in celebrity children has always existed, but in recent years, attention to Violet has increased as she is often seen in a mask in public.
Recently, the eldest daughter of Jen and Ben was spotted on her way to an urgent care clinic in Los Angeles, accompanied by both parents. Violet was once again wearing a mask, which raised questions about the reasons for her choice.
Here’s what Violet said about her decision to wear a mask in public.
Violet is 20 years old. She was born on December 1, 2005.
«We can and must do this again. We can recognize filtered air as a human right, just as intuitively as we recognize filtered water», - she wrote on Twitter.
Yes, according to Violet herself, she «became ill with a post-viral condition in 2019», - which she reported in September 2025 at a UN meeting.
«Right now, I’m okay, but I have seen firsthand that medicine does not always have answers to the consequences of even minor viruses», - Violet explained at that time. «The COVID-19 pandemic has further exacerbated this issue».
Violet decided to wear a mask in public due to the post-viral condition she experienced a few years ago. During her passionate speech at the UN meeting in 2025, she called for changes to help society cope with the threat of long COVID—a chronic illness with symptoms that persist or return weeks after infection with SARS-CoV-2.
«To address the long COVID crisis, I demand the availability of masks, air filtration, and the use of ultraviolet light in public institutions, including prisons and detention centers, as well as mandatory mask-wearing in county medical facilities», - Violet stated at the UN meeting. «We must expand access to high-quality, free testing and treatment, and most importantly, the county must resist mask bans for any reason. They do not make us safer. They make vulnerable members of our community less protected and hinder everyone from participating in life in Los Angeles».
She added, «It is the highest degree of neglect to look children in the eye and say, ‘We knew how to protect you, and we didn’t do it.' For adults, the relentless rhythm of ‘returning to normal,' ignoring, downplaying, and concealing both the prevalence of airborne transmission and the threat of long COVID manifests in a number of choices»
