The halls of the Nevermore Academy are opening again — Wednesday is returning for a second season soon. After an extremely successful debut, turning the daughter of the iconic Addams family into a streaming sensation, fans learned in 2023 that the next season was already on its way, with filming set to begin next year. Now we finally get a closer look at what awaits us.

Netflix officially announced the renewal of the series «Wednesday» on January 6, 2023. In the announcement of the second season, Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams delivers a perfectly in spirit message: «Over the past few weeks, I have been stalked, pursued, and repeatedly copied on the internet. It has been pure torture. Thank you».
The streaming service stated that «more suffering is on the way» and «the global phenomenon will return for a second season».

«Wednesday» instantly became a hit for Netflix when it debuted on November 23, 2022. In the first week, «Wednesday» was watched for 341.23 million hours and became the record holder for the most hours watched in a week for any English-language TV series on Netflix. «Wednesday» surpassed «Stranger Things 4», - which previously held the title with 335 million hours watched in the first week. «Wednesday» broke another Netflix record in the second week with 411.29 million hours watched.
The love for Wednesday Addams began when the fictional family was created by cartoonist Charles Addams. The first TV series about the Addams family aired in 1964. Feature films starring Christina Ricci as Wednesday Addams appeared in the 1990s.
Part one of the second season of «Wednesday» premieres on August 6, and part two on September 3 on Netflix.
Filming for the new season began in early 2024 after delays due to WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, when unions were negotiating new agreements with studios. Production of the second season was moved to Ireland, which is different from the first season, which was filmed in Romania from September 2021 to March 2022.
Jenna will of course return as Wednesday Addams — and this time she is not only the star. As announced in her Elle cover, Jenna will also be an executive producer for the second season.

Hunter Doohan will once again play Tyler Galpin, despite his character being imprisoned at the end of the first season after being revealed as the Guide. He hinted that Tyler’s story is not over, telling HollywoodLife: «I just want to explore what’s next for Tyler, and whether he will return after Wednesday… I think the idea left at the end is that he is really angry enough to turn into that armed transport and presumably escape».
Tyler was previously under the control of Marilyn Thornhill (played by Christina Ricci), whose fate remained unresolved in the finale of the first season. Hunter added that he would like to see «what Tyler and the Guide will be like without a master in Thornhill».
The Addams family is also expected to make appearances throughout the season. Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia), Luis Guzmán (Gomez), Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley), George Burcea (Lurch), Victor Dorobantu (Thing), and Fred Armisen (Uncle Fester) are all likely to appear — and fans hope for even more screen time
