Simone, born on August 14, 2001, is the daughter of Dwayne, whom he shares with his first wife Dany Garcia, who is a producer and founder of Gracia company. The former couple was married from 1997 to 2008, and Simone is their only child. Dwayne also shares daughters Jasmine and Tiana with his second wife Lauren Hashian.
In 2020, Simone signed a developmental contract with WWE at just 18 years old, becoming the first fourth-generation wrestler in the company’s history, following in the footsteps of her great-grandfather «High Chief» Peter Maivia, her grandfather «Soulman» Rocky Johnson, and of course, her father, Johnson.
Announcing this important moment on Instagram, Simone shared a photo of herself in a WWE t-shirt with the caption: «For the little girl who fell in love with wrestling and said 'this will be my life,' this is for you. I am humble, grateful, and ready to work. Let’s do this. @wwe @wwenxt».
Later, she revealed her official ring name, Ava Reign, in May 2022. She was immediately criticized for this name, and one critic wrote: «Giving Simone Johnson, daughter of The Rock, a new name is absolutely pointless. I will judge until she debuts, but if WWE doesn’t acknowledge that her father is The Rock, it’s unreasonable».
Simone responded by writing: «I probably sound like a broken record, and hopefully this is the last time I mention it, but I don’t understand why people, portrayed as separate entities from their last name, spark such heated discussions. The name does not diminish any previous family achievements». She later added: «I could build my entire career around my father, and I would still be criticized».
Shortly after joining WWE, Simone suffered a knee injury in September 2020, requiring surgery. She had already undergone three other knee surgeries, making this the fourth overall. After recovering, she finally made her television debut in October 2022 on NXT as Ava Reign.

Since her debut, Simone continues to develop her presence in WWE, even announcing in 2025 that the WWE Speed Championships for men and women will officially become part of NXT. She has also faced challenges in the public eye, including criticism for reposting on social media after the death of Charlie Kirk.
