Vivek Ramaswami quickly made his way into American politics. Although he had focused on various entrepreneurial achievements throughout his career, the Yale University graduate became an effective voice for the Republican Party, particularly for Donald Trump. Now, with Trump choosing Ramaswami to lead the Department of State Efficiency as his co-chair, many voters want to learn more about him. From his entrepreneurial ventures to his current net worth, find out more about Ramaswami here.

Ramaswami was initially known for his entrepreneurial roles. His work in various biotechnology and financial companies and platforms provided a strong foundation for his political career. After announcing his campaign for president in 2023, hailing from Ohio, he fought against Trump, but nevertheless supported him. At one point, even the Harvard University graduate said he would pardon Trump for his federal charges if elected president.

Ramaswami’s campaign stated in 2023 that his net worth is $ 1 billion. Forbes also called him a «billionaire» in a headline in 2023.

The politician accumulated his wealth through biotechnology and financial entrepreneurial ventures. Early in his career, Ramaswami worked at a hedge fund, eventually managing the biotechnology sector of the firm. In 2014, he left the hedge fund and founded his own biotechnology firm, Roivant Sciences.

Roivant expanded over time. The company later launched its subsidiary, Axovant Sciences. After their Alzheimer’s disease-focused drug, Intepirdine, failed to pass clinical trials, Axovant discontinued its marketing efforts for the drug.

In 2020, Ramaswami co-founded Chapter Medicare with others. Three years later, Ramaswami stepped down as CEO of Roivant to focus on his presidential campaign. The following year, he endorsed Trump.

In mid-2024, Ramaswami acquired 7% of Buzzfeed’s shares.

Trump’s Department of State Efficiency will be led by Ramaswami and another billionaire, Elon Musk. Trump explained that the working group «will pave the way for his administration to dismantle government bureaucracy, reduce excessive regulations, cut wasteful spending, and restructure federal agencies», - according to a statement he shared through X.

Trump also called the working group the «Manhattan Project of our time»
