Jan Ravnik has decided to add more «energy» to the show «Dancing with the Stars» next week following an awkward moment with host Julianne Hough during «Super Bowl Night» and amid the drama surrounding the first suspension of a professional dancer this season.
On October 17, Jan, 31, joined the popular TikTok trend by releasing a funny video in which he actively teaches his partner on the show, Tatiana Ali, to work on her «passion» and «technique» in the rehearsal hall. He captioned the video: «Heading into week six like… #dwts». The pair parodied a viral 2023 video in which a man dancing to ZHU’s song «Faded» receives instructions from an off-screen voice to show «more passion, more energy, more technique».
The couple’s joke coincided with the day when professional dancer Val Chmerkovskiy was suspended from performing next week during «Dedication Night» due to his controversial comments about judge Carrie Ann Inaba. In Val’s absence, his partner on the show, Jenna Dewan, will temporarily dance with professional Alan Bersten, performing a Viennese waltz in honor of Jenna’s mother, Nancy Burch.
Jan’s video also gained popularity following his interaction with Julianne on October 13, which went viral during «Super Bowl Night». Julianne spoke with Jan and Tatiana immediately after their salsa performance, for which they received 29 out of 40 points from the judges. The host asked the couple if they planned to add more «power» on the dance floor during «Dedication Night», - if «you'll be here next week». Jan, with an ironic smile, replied, «We have a dance that has no power, so I don’t know».
Tatiana explained that it’s hard to think about next week right after a performance. She noted that in those moments, it’s difficult to focus on anything other than the performance itself, and that the question about next week can be confusing.
The couple was pleased with their score of 29 points on «Dedication Night», - especially since they received their first «8» from guest judge Joe Buck. Tatiana added that they tried to take the judges' comments into account and bring more precision and strength to their dances. In their next performance, they will dance a Viennese waltz in honor of Tatiana’s late colleague from «Beverly Hills, 90210», - James Avery.
