The crime series «Department Q» from Netflix appeared on the streaming platform on May 29, 2025, but viewers were interrupted in the middle of watching when the show suddenly disappeared. «His sharp sarcasm didn’t earn him any friends in the Edinburgh police», - the synopsis reads. «After a shooting that resulted in a young officer’s death and his partner being paralyzed, Mørck finds himself banished to the basement and the only member of Department Q, a newly created department for investigating cold cases. The department is a PR move, created to distract the public from the failures of the underfunded, inept police force that is happy to be rid of him. But more by accident than design, Carl begins to assemble a group of misfits and lost souls who have something to prove. So when a chilling trail leads to a high-ranking government official who disappeared several years ago, Carl once again does what he does best — shakes cages and refuses to take no for an answer».
Almost immediately after appearing on Netflix, «Department Q» disappeared from the lineup. Viewers complained on social media that the show suddenly disappeared while they were watching an episode.
As one user X wrote on Twitter: «Looks like @NetflixUK @netflix had some kind of issue. Got an email reminder that #DepartmentQ was starting today. Just finished watching the second episode, and it’s all gone. Can’t even find it. I was enjoying it. Would be nice if #Netflix told us what happened».
Other Netflix movies and series were still available for viewing on the streamer. So «Department Q» seemed to be the only title that went dark, and the reason is still unclear; Netflix has not released an official statement on the matter.
